ΟΙ ΠΑΡΑΛΙΕΣ-ΑΞΙΟΘΕΑΤΑ
Είναι αλήθεια ότι στον νότο των Χανίων
μπορείτε να περάσετε ένα ολόκληρο κα-
λοκαίρι μετακινούμενοι από τη θάλασσα
στην ταβέρνα ή στο καφενείο, και τούμπα-
λιν, αλλά θα είναι κρίμα να μη βρείτε χρό-
νο να επισκεφτείτε –με βάρκα έστω, αν η
πεζοπορία σάς φαίνεται... βουνό– μερικές
από τις ωραιότερες παραλίες της Κρήτης.
Γνωρίστε τες παρέα με ένα ποτήρι μπύρα
Χάρμα, την πρώτη Χανιώτικη μπύρα με
την ισχυρή τοπική ταυτότητα που φέρνει
την Κρήτη στο ποτήρι σας.
Από Χώρα προς Λουτρό
Στον επιβλητικό Ίλιγγα –τιρκουάζ, κρυ-
στάλινα νερά και ασημένια, χοντρή άμ-
μος– μπορείτε να πάτε ακόμη και περπα-
τώντας από τη Χώρα Σφακίων. Bρίσκε-
ται μόλις 1χλμ. δυτικά της, στην έξοδο του
φαραγγιού Καβή, και αποτελείται από μία
μεγαλύτερη παραλία και μία πιο απόμερη,
στα ανατολικά της, όπου φτάνετε μόνο με
βάρκα ή κολυμπώντας. Eδώ δεν θα βρείτε
ομπρέλες, θα βρείτε όμως δροσερές σπη-
λιές, που δημιουργούν ένα μοναδικό τοπίο.

BEACHES WORTH SEEING
Although in the South of Chania one can
spend the whole summer swimming, eat-
ing, and drinking, it’s a pity not to visit
some of Crete’s most beautiful beaches.
Enjoy the viewwith a glass of Charma beer,
the first beer of Chania, with its strong Cre-
tan identity.
Sfakia – Loutro
Impressive Iligas – with turquoise, crystal
clear waters, and silver, thick sand – can be
reached on foot fromChora Sfakia. It’s only
1 kmwest, at Kavi Gorge’s outlet, and it con-
sists of abigger beach, andanother one,more
secluded, eastwards, that canbe reachedonly
by boat, or swimming. There are no umbrel-
las here, but there are cool caves that create
a unique landscape. “Tucked” among steep
rockymasses, up to 400 m high, the pebbly
beach of Glyka Nera (with water springs
gushing out ice-cold sweet water into the
sea) is one of South Crete’s most beautiful
beaches. It canbe reachedby sea, or on foot
from Sfakia (in about 30 minutes), or from
Loutro (in 1 hour on a difficult path). The
small canteen on thewest side of the beach,
sells food, water, and rents sun-loungers.
Loutro – Agia Roumeli
In Marmara, or Dialiskari, at the exit of
Aradena Gorge, there is a small pebbly
beach with few umbrellas and a wood-
en tavern on the rock. Explore the white
smooth rocks surrounding the beach and
the surrounding caves with rocks in weird
shapes and colors. Since there is no road
to this place, one can either come on foot
(through the gorge, or from Loutro), or by
boat. In the summer, there is a daily ship
service fromLoutro port toMarmara. Agi-
os Pavlos at the exit of grim Eligia gorge is
beautiful, vast, and secluded – only acces-
sible by boat, or on foot. The chapel on the
