THE NATURAL HISTORY Museum
of Crete Exhibition contains life-
sized dinosaur models, prehistoric
organisms’ fossils, representations
of the natural environment, and
many interactive exhibits.
The venue includes a “Live
Museum” with terrariums and
aquariums housing live animals.
In the “Stavros Niarchos Discovery
Center”, a miniature of Mediterra-
nean Sea ecosystems, children fa-
miliarize themselves with nature
and its organisms. Mega-Diora-
mas depict life in the Mediterra-
nean ecosystems. The Earthquake
Simulator familiarizes visitors with
earthquakes. Finally, the impres-
sive Gigantean Deinotherium
(Deinotherium Giganteum), an
animal that lived in Crete 8.5 mil-
lion years ago, steals the show.
